Our Recommended Accommodations in Levuka and the Lomaiviti Islands for Couples

Romance means something different to different couples and the Lomaiviti Islands provide just that; difference. Away from the busier tourist regions of Fiji, the Lomaivitis offer an alternative retreat for couples looking for white sand beaches, coral-filled waters and rich island culture. What’s more, the Lomaiviti Islands have the added extra of being one of the most historically significant places in Fiji, especially in the town of Levuka which was Fiji’s first capital city and now holds UNESCO World Heritage status. So whether you’re looking for a budget honeymoon with exploration, a luxurious escape to a private island, a beach wedding or something else, we’ll go through your best options with this list of the most romantic accommodations in the Lomaiviti Islands.

1. Toberua Island Resort

Escape to the private island Toberua Island Resort for a fine blend of relaxation, romance and adventure. Attractive to couples, Toberua Island Resort offers wedding and vow renewal packages where ceremonies take place on the beach, by the pool, in tropical gardens or under their open-air bure (Fijian-style cottage). Those staying on the island for at least five nights on their honeymoon will receive a complimentary “Honeymoon Bonus”. Accommodation choices consist of three types of bure and one large villa. The “Deluxe Bures” and “Premium Bures” are worth considering for a special occasion with their Sleepmaker king beds, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, and a large covered deck on the waterfront. Activities at the resort include scuba diving, snorkelling, spa treatments, island-hopping trips and much more. See our 10 Romantic Things to Do in the Lomaiviti Islands for recommendations.

2. Leleuvia Island Resort

A more affordable island resort getaway awaits on the down-to-earth Leleuvia Island Resort. Their private bures use traditional materials that instantly transition you into island life. The bures have queen beds but no air-conditioning, although the trade winds breezing through the bures are usually enough to keep comfortably cool. The resort is a fantastic destination for watersports and cultural immersion with regular trips organised to Moturiki Island, Levuka and Lovoni Village in a volcanic crater, as well as kava and lovo nights. For couples looking to tie the knot, the Leleuvia Island wedding package offers a complete experience for an island wedding: tropical flower arrangements, serenaders, a Fijian buffet dinner – the works! 3. Wakaya Club & Spa

Your most luxurious option for a romantic getaway in the Lomaivitis is no doubt the Wakaya Club & Spa. This private island resort has only 10 bures and two luxurious villas, all of which provide a five-star stay for couples. The “simplest” bures have a romantic overhang netting set-up, an outdoor lava rock shower, an oversized soaking tub, cathedral ceilings and a large living area with a wet bar. You can also upgrade to the “Governor’s Bure” or “Ambassador’s Bure” with a private plunge pool or spa pool. Scuba diving and snorkelling are exceptional around the island with a marine reserve and a figure-of-eight coral reef half wrapping around the island. The spa facilities are also highly praised, using Pure Fiji products with East-meets-West massages. Weddings can also be organised on the island.
