7-Day Honeymoon Itinerary for Fiji Visiting Islands

There’s hardly a better place to start the rest of your lives together than the archipelago of Fiji. For couples looking to spend most of their time on Fiji’s smaller islands in between island-hopping, this “Fiji Honeymoon Itinerary: 7 Days (Idyllic Islands)” is for you. The itinerary takes you from the luxury resort hub of Denarau Island across the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands and back. We include recommendations for romantic experiences and honeymoon accommodation in each destination.

Note that this itinerary is for the couple who wants to see several locations during a week-long honeymoon. For a more relaxed itinerary with less travel, see How to Spend 7 Days on a Honeymoon in Fiji TI058. If you’re more interested in a self-drive tour, check out Fiji Honeymoon Itinerary: 7 Days (Viti Levu Road Trip).

How to Get Around Fiji in 7 Days

The 7-day honeymoon itinerary below involves a little road travel but mostly overwater travel. Here is a quick rundown of how to get around Fiji.

Overwater Transport in Fiji

The majority of this 7-day itinerary involves island-hopping in the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands. While the fast catamaran ferries provide a slightly more affordable option to get between islands and Port Denarau on the mainland, water taxis provide a more private experience that’s appealing for a honeymoon. Check out 5 Ways to Get to the Mamanuca Islands for more details and alternative transport. For getting back from the Yasawa Islands to the mainland, we recommend a helicopter/seaplane transfer for a honeymoon treat. Find out more information in 5 Ways to Get to the Yasawa Islands.

Road Transport in Fiji

The first day of this itinerary will require you to take road transport to Denarau Island from Nadi International Airport. This can be done by taxi, private resort transfers and even the bus. Find out more in 5 Ways to Get to Denarau Island.

Day 1 – Nadi International Airport to Denarau Island

Travel time: 20 minutes

Welcome to Fiji! Before you start your week of island-hopping, we recommend getting over the jet lag at one of the fabulous five-star resorts on Denarau Island. The island connected to Fiji’s mainland is a mere 20 minutes away from the airport, so you’ll be transitioning into Fiji time quicker than, well, “Fiji time“. Each resort is connected by a waterfront walkway or the hop-on hop-off Bula Bus making resort-hopping a fun way to spend your time. You could also relax by the pool, treat yourself to a couples’ massage, and more following our recommendations below.

Romantic Activities on Denarau Island

  • Go on a romantic island day trip to the Malamala Beach Club (more info on Viator and Tripadvisor)
  • Indulge in a romantic couple’s massage
  • Treat her to dinner at a private waterfront table
  • Enjoy a private cruise to a secret snorkelling spot
  • Spend the afternoon in one of the adult-only complexes

For more information on each activity, see our 10 Romantic Activities in Denarau for Couples.

Day 2 – Denarau Island to the Mamanuca Islands

Travel time: 35-45 minutes by water taxi or catamaran ferry

It’s time to leave the little luxury bubble of Denarau Island and start discovering some of the idyllic islands that Fiji is famous for. The Mamanuca Islands is a group of 20-something islands scattered across turquoise waters. Each island is small, either with an interior of lush coconut palms or an ancient volcanic peak. There’s an island resort in the Mamanucas to suit all budgets, whether you’re looking for a down-to-earth adventure in a backpacker resort or absolute luxury in an adult-only retreat. Check out your options below for where to spend the next couple of nights on the Mamanuca Islands.

Day 3 – Mamanuca Islands

The Mamanuca Islands make a beautiful setting for romance with its glistening waters and beaches backed by palms. Complimentary activities like stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking or hiking are a private way to explore your surroundings together. Or how about treating yourselves to a special experience like a secluded beach picnic where your resort will organise transport and a gourmet lunch? For more active couples, how about strengthening your bond by learning a new skill together, such as scuba diving? PADI Open Water courses take 3-4 days to complete and can be transferred to another PADI dive centre (of which there are many in Fiji) if you don’t finish it during your stay in the Mamanuca Islands.

Romantic Activities in the Mamanuca Islands

  • Have a private picnic on a secluded island or beach
  • Do a sunset cruise complete with canapes and beverages
  • Take a scuba diving course together
  • Explore the island on a secluded hiking trail
  • Navigate the waters together in a double kayak

For more information on each activity, head to our 10 Romantic Activities in the Mamanuca Islands for Couples.

Day 4 – Mamanuca Islands

You have one final day in the Mamanucas to enjoy the experiences you haven’t yet had time to do, whether it’s a trip to the Cloud 9 floating pizza bar (more info on Viator and Tripadvisor) or a dolphin cruise? The Mamanuca Islands has so much to offer, so check out 10 Must-Dos in the Mamanuca Islands, as well as The Wedding & Honeymoon Guide to the Mamanuca Islands for more inspiration on what to do for your last day.

Day 5 – Mamanuca Islands to the Yasawa Islands

Travel time: 1h15min-3h45min

This morning, hop back on the water taxi or the South Sea Cruises ferry (more info on Viator and Tripadvisor) to your next destination: the Yasawa Islands. You’ll notice how the islands have more dramatic scenery with larger islands, volcanic peaks and vast lagoons. Resorts and Fijian villages often share the same island, so immersing in the Fijian culture is effortless when staying in a Yasawa Islands resort. Speaking of, get settled into your resort. Again, there’s a real mix of affordable resorts with “honeymoon bures” to luxurious private island resorts.

Or, if you’re looking for something more romantic, take a look at the list below or check out the Wedding & Honeymoon Guide to the Yasawa Islands.

Romantic Activities in the Yasawa Islands

  • Indulge in a couple’s massage on the beach
  • Go for a morning hike and watch the sunset
  • Enjoy a private beachfront dinner
  • Snorkel with manta rays or sharks
  • Take part in some Fijian crafting lessons or cooking class

Day 7 – Yasawa Islands to Nadi International Airport

Travel time: 35 minutes

Arrive back on the mainland with an intimate helicopter or seaplane flight over the islands that you have been exploring the past few days. There’s nothing like seeing the islands and coral reefs decorating the ocean from above – definitely a special experience to share with your loved one. Your flight will bring you straight back to Nadi International Airport, making it simple to catch your flight out of Fiji.
