How to Get to the Suncoast

The Suncoast is located on the northern coast of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island and the same island as Nadi International Airport.  Both road transport and air transport provide scenic ways to get to your chosen wedding or honeymoon destination. While we list a few transport methods appropriate for a romantic getaway below, see more options including budget transport in our 5 Ways to Get to the Suncoast.

Suncoast via Private Flight

A special occasion calls for a special mode of transport, so why not arrive at your resort by helicopter or seaplane? Private seaplane and helicopter flights are available to selected resorts on the Suncoast, departing from Nadi International Airport. Flights take approximately 1h10mins. Find out more in the Suncoast Transport Guide, as well as Where to Hire a Plane or Seaplane in Fiji.

Suncoast via Private Transfer

Enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive together along the coast of Viti Levu in your own private transfer. Companies offer transfers in a range of air-conditioned cars and 4WD vehicles. Find out more in our Suncoast Transport Guide.

Car Rental

For couples wanting to experience ultimate freedom together to Fiji’s top road trip destination, choose a car rental to get to the Suncoast. Pick up a rental vehicle from Nadi International Airport where a 2WD will be comfortable if just sticking to the Kings Road, otherwise, you might want to consider a 4WD vehicle to explore the stunning interior of the Suncoast. See The Best Car Rentals in Fiji for a full comparison of car rental companies in Nadi.

Suncoast Wedding Packages

Some wedding venues on the Suncoast go the extra mile to take the guesswork out of planning your own destination wedding. Wananava Beach Resort offers a range of pre-made wedding packages from a simple island wedding package to a Fijian affair. Their “Complimentary Wedding” package, which is free between November and March, includes a marriage license, celebrant and transfers, decorated ceremony venue, Champagne upon arrival, floral leis, wedding coordinator and wedding night turndown in your accommodation. Honeymoon Activities for Couples

A honeymoon or a romantic escape to the Suncoast is not complete until you have had some unforgettable experiences. While we all know that you can spend your days sunbathing by the pool and sipping on cocktails, it’s worth amping up your time together with special experiences made for couples. Here are just a few suggestions.

Sunset Cruise

Create the perfect setting for popping the question or just enjoy a magical afternoon together on the sunset cruise on the Suncoast. Set out on the waters during golden hour with Volivoli Beach Resort or Wananavu Beach Resort for their utterly romantic sunset cruises. Indulge on canapes served onboard and sip on Champagne as you watch the golden hues in the skies glisten on the water before the sun dips into the ocean.

Couples’ Massage

Discover the true meaning of “Fiji time” together with a rejuvenating couples’ massage. This complete state of relaxation and blissfulness is an experience best shared together, whether it’s with a His & Her’s Arrival Ritual or Honeymoon Pamper Ritual at the Wananavu Beach Resort, an Aromatic Massage at the Daulomanu Day Spa of the Volivoli Beach Resort, or pamper session at the Noqui Tau Spa of the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel.

Private Beach Picnic

Get the castaway experience with the best part of the boat: the food! You and your loved one will be whisked away to a secluded white sand beach of one of the Suncoast’s off-shore islands with Wananavu Beach Resort. You’ll have the day to enjoy alone together swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing in your own piece of paradise.

Kayaking

There’s something quite romantic about the tranquillity of exploring the glistening waters of Fiji together by kayak. Take a picnic and kayak from the luxurious Dolphin Island to one of the nearby islands and their unspoiled beaches. Or explore the coast together in one of the readily available kayaks of the Wananavu Beach Resort.

Learn How to Scuba Dive Together

Nothing strengthens the bond like learning a new skill together. Make that skill simply epic by learning how to scuba dive together in the Suncoast’s warm coral-filled waters. Wananavu Dive provides a range of PADI-accredited scuba diving lessons, from Discover Scuba Diving (ideal for your first dive) to an Open Water Diver course to receive a diving certification. Alternatively, Ra Divers at the Volivoli Beach Resort offer both PADI and SSI Open Water Dive courses. Whatever you choose, the azure waters of the Bligh Water with its abundance of marine life is certainly a special place to learn.
