1. Sail to Honeymoon Island
Sail away to the most appropriately named island for a romantic getaway, Honeymoon Island. Join either Vacala Bay Resort or Taveuni Island Resort & Spa for a romantic cruise to this stunning island just off the shores of Taveuni. With Vacala Bay Resort, you’ll enjoy refreshments on the resort’s personal yacht before arriving on the island to snorkel, kayak or paddleboard among the vibrant array of fish. On the way back to the resort, be offered wine or beer to sip on as you relax on the expansive nets.
Location: Both resorts are in Matei, north coast of Taveuni.

2. Indulge in the Perks of a Resort Honeymoon Package
If you got married within at least 180 days of holidaying to Taveuni, chances are that the resorts will have a nice little “Honeymoon Bonus” waiting for you. Indulge in private island picnics, enjoy a candlelit dinner at a different location around the resort each night, and relax with a complimentary couples massage. Find out more about the details in our The Honeymoon Guide to Taveuni.
Location: See the link above for recommendations and their locations.

3. Take an Adventure Through the Jungle on the Vidawa Rainforest Hike
A Bouma National Heritage Park excursion perfect for couples is the Vidawa Rainforest Hike. Wander through the lush forest hand-in-hand as your guide from the Vidawa Village shows you historic fortified village sites and astonishing lookouts and introduces you to Fijian medicinal plants and native birds. Note that the full walk is 6-7 hours return. Some shorter alternatives are listed in the 10 Best Walks & Hikes on Taveuni.
Location: Vidawa Village is about 1 km (0.6 mi) after the turn-off to Waitabu Marine Park along the east coast road. Get there by bus, rental car, taxi or the resorts listed in the 10 Most Romantic Resorts on Taveuni.

4. Chase Waterfalls in the Bouma National Heritage Park
Speaking of the Bouma National Heritage Park, what could be more romantic than discovering picturesque waterfalls together? Popular options include the short walk to three waterfalls at Bouma (Tavoro) Falls or the 3 km (1.8 mi) Lavena Coastal Walk. Alternatively, in the Bouma National Park, snorkel in Waitabu Marine Park and meet the locals in the villages who protect the park. Location: See the link above for locations.

5. Learn to Scuba Dive, Kiteboard or Horse Ride Together
Taveuni provides many opportunities to learn new and exciting skills, which you can do together and strengthen your bond. For instance, book one of the PADI dive courses at Paradise Taveuni during your stay. It will definitely be worthwhile when you see the spectacular underwater world of the Rainbow Reef or get close to the White Wall. At Vacala Bay Resort, learn how to kiteboard across the azure waters in the safety of a sandy-bottom bay. Alternatively, ride a horse up volcanic peaks and along pristine beaches suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike. Taveuni Palms Resort, Garden Island Resort and Coconut Grove Beach Cottages will all be able to point you in the right direction for amazing horse treks.
Location: Paradise Taveuni – Vuna, southwest coast of Taveuni (and see How to Learn to Scuba Dive in Fiji: The Ultimate Guide for more resorts that offer dive courses). Taveuni Palms & Coconut Grove – Matei, north coast of Taveuni. Garden Island – Wairiki, west coast of Taveuni.

6. Relax with a Couples Massage
Share the feeling of utter relaxation in an indulgent couples massage. Spas such as the Oceanfront Bamboo Spa at Paradise Taveuni boast a wide range of honeymoon treatments, from a destressing “Paradise Honeymoon Massage” to a reviving “Jet Lag Honeymoon Massage”. Over at Matangi Private Island Resort, their Ocean Spa has state-of-the-art couples treatment rooms with a Vichy rain shower and overwater deck. Choose the perfect spa for you with our 10 Best Spas on Taveuni.

7. Explore the Bays and Coral Reefs by Kayak or Paddleboard
A tranquil way to get on the water with no guide and no other guests, just the two of you, is by hiring a couple of paddleboards or a double kayak. All of the romantic resorts of Taveuni have complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, and even sailing catamarans if staying at Matangi Private Island Resort.
Location: Any coastal resort on Taveuni!

8. Stargaze at Some of the Clearest Nights Skies in the World
Located on the 180th parallel in the southern Pacific Ocean, Taveuni is isolated from the world’s light pollution. For this reason, the island has some of the best views of the night sky. To enhance your nights of stargazing, stay at one of the private resorts, like Raiwasa or Vacala, where you’ll have complete privacy and an ample selection of outdoor lounging areas to relax in while enjoying the spectacular southern night sky. We also love the views from the aptly named Remote Resort.
Location: Raiwasa & Vacala Bay – Matei, north coast of Taveuni. The Remote Resort – Vanua Levu. Accessible by private boat transfers organised through the resort, 15 minutes across from Wairiki/Taveuni.

9. Have a Romantic Private Beach Picnic
Be transported to a secluded beach or even an entire uninhabited island where you and your loved one will spend the day in a secluded paradise. Take the boat from Matangi Private Island Resort to Horseshoe Bay where they’ll prepare a gourmet picnic hamper to take with you. On Laucala Island, which is an entire private island in itself, you’ll choose either a boat, catamaran or jet ski to make your way to the tranquil Tadra Beach, meaning “dream beach” in Fijian.
Location: Matangi Island & Laucala Island are off the east coast of Taveuni. More private dining experiences are listed in The Food Guide to Taveuni.

10. Retreat to an Adults-Only or a Private Resort
If you want the full resort experience where all your needs will be attended to, combined with privacy and tranquillity, then spoil yourselves with a stay at one of Taveuni’s adult-only resorts. Qamea Resort & Spa and Matangi Private Island Resort are both exclusively for adults, setting the tone right for a romantic holiday (away from screaming children). Alternatively, Raiwasa Private Resort and Vacala Bay Resort are resorts with one private villa, giving couples complete privacy with all the luxury services a resort can provide. Find out more in our The Adults-Only Guide to Taveuni.
Location: See recommendations in the 5 Best Adults-Only Resorts on Taveuni.
