A Guide to Taxi Fares in Fiji
Taxis in Fiji are an affordable way to get around the towns of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Kadavuand Ovalau. While taxis are required to run on meters within most of Fiji’s towns, long-distance trips are available where the fare can often be negotiated.

The Difference Between Metred Taxis (LT) and Hire Taxis (LH)
Fiji offers two main types of taxi services, each with distinct characteristics:

Taxi Prices in Viti Levu
Taxis can be an affordable way to get around towns in Fiji, where LT taxis must use meters for trips within town areas, and LH taxis set a fixed rate. Both LT and LH taxis will charge a fixed rate when leaving the town boundaries.
Viti Levu LT Taxi Flagfall Rates
The taxi meter flagfall in Viti Levu is around FJ$5 from Nadi Airport, and FJ$2 elsewhere between 6 am and 9 pm. It is FJ$3 outside of these hours.
Airport taxis at Nadi Airport have a drop charge of FJ$0.15 per 100 metres, and a waiting charge of FJ$0.18 per minute.
For all other taxis, the drop charge is FJ$0.10 per 100 metres, and the waiting charge is FJ$0.18 per minute.

LT and LH Taxi Prices from Nadi International Airport
One of the most popular journeys on Viti Levu is between Nadi International Airport and the resorts around Viti Levu. Both LT and LH taxis provide transport between Nadi Airport and the following destinations.
- To Nadi Town: FJ$12-$17 (LT) and FJ$18-$30 (LH)
- To Wailoaloa: FJ$10-$15 (LT) and FJ$18-$25 (LH)
- To Martintar: FJ$8-$12 (LT) and FJ$15-$18 (LH)
- To Denarau: FJ$15-$18 (LT) and FJ$18-$40 (LH)
- To Vuda: FJ$15-$20 (LT) and FJ$25-$35 (LH)
- To Lautoka: FJ$25-$35 (LT) and FJ$45-$55 (LH)
- To Sigatoka: FJ$90-$130* (LT/LH)
- To the Pacific Harbour: FJ$170-$200* (LT/LH)
- To Rakiraki: FJ$250-$300* (LT/LH)
- To Suva: FJ$250-$300* (LT/LH)
* Note that a meter would not typically be used because these destinations are outside of Nadi’s boundaries.

LT and LH Taxi Prices Around Nadi
Due to the lower flagfall rate, taking a taxi around Nadi is slightly cheaper than taking one from the airport. Also, expect cheaper rates to get to the airport.
- Nadi Town to Martintar: FJ$5-$10 (LT) and FJ$10-$15 (LH)
- Wailoaloa to Denarau: FJ$15-$20 (LT) and FJ$25-$30 (LH)
- Denarau to Wailoaloa: FJ$30-$35* (LH)
- Namaka to Wailoaloa: FJ$15-$20 (LT) and FJ$20-$25 (LH)
* Note that “LT” taxis are not permitted to offer pick-ups on Denarau. What’s more, “LH” drivers have to pay a surcharge to pick up from Denarau, so expect prices to be around FJ$5 more than you paid to get to Denarau.
Other Taxi Prices for Viti Levu
LH taxis are less abundant outside of Nadi, so the prices below are for LT taxis only. Some other journeys you might be interested in knowing the cost of taxis in Viti Levu include:
- Nausori Airport to Suva city centre: FJ$30-$50 (LT)
- Suva to the Pacific Harbour: FJ$40-$60 (LT)
- Crossing Suva City: FJ$4-$8 (LT)
- Suva to Colo-i-Suva Forest Park: FJ$15-$25 (LT).

Taxi Prices in Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Ovalau
The only other islands with taxis in Fiji are the islands of Ovalau, Vanua Levu and Taveuni. Like Viti Levu, LT taxis must use meters for trips within town areas, and LH taxis set a fixed rate. Fares between towns or for sightseeing in the countryside can be negotiated.
Vanua Levu, Ovalau, Taveuni and Kadavu LT Taxi Flagfall Rates
The taxi meter flagfall on Vanua Levu, Ovalau, Taveuni and Kadavu is around FJ$7.10 for airport taxis and, for all other areas, FJ$2.30 between 6 am and 9 pm. It is FJ$3.30 outside of these hours.
It is then FJ$0.10 per 100 metres, and the waiting charge is FJ$0.18 per minute.

LT and LH Taxi Prices in Savusavu and Vanua Levu
LT taxis must use a meter within a 16 km (10 mi) radius of Savusavu or Labasa. There are very few LH taxis, but they exist (shoutout to Ashneil in Savusavu!)
- Savusavu to Labasa: FJ$120-$150 (LT/LH)
- Airport to Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort: FJ$13-$14 (LT) and FJ$20 (LH)
- Airport to Savusavu: FJ$5 (LT) and FJ$10-$15 (LH)
- Savusavu to Vuadomo: FJ$20 (LT)
- Savusavu to Vuodomo (including 2-hour wait and return): FJ$80 (LH)
- Daku Resort to Savusavu: FJ$4-$5 (LT)
- Koro Sun to Savusavu: FJ$18 (LT) and FJ$20-$30 (LH).

LT and LH Taxi Prices on Taveuni
There are limited taxis in Taveuni. Some typical prices in Taveuni include:
- Matei Airport to the Matei resorts: FJ$2-$10 (LT/LH)
- Matei to Bouma (Tavoro) Falls: FJ$25-$50 (LT/LH)
- Matei to Waiyevo: FJ$20-$30 (LT/LH)
- Waiyevo to Vuna (Paradise Taveuni): FJ$30-$40 (LT/LH)
LH Taxi Prices on Ovalau and Kadavu

- Airport to Landing: FJ$20 (LH)
- Airport to any accommodation in Vunisea: FJ$10 (LH)
- Wharf to Market: FJ$10 (LT/LH)
(Essentially, you are charged FJ$5-$10 per place visited, plus a waiting charge of FJ$5-FJ$10).
