5 Tips for Family Travel in Fiji

  • Always ask for a family deal with every tour you book
  • Pick activities that both you and the kids will love
  • Keep your options open when planning your day with kids, in case there are any tantrums. Ask open-ended questions when asking what they want to do, giving them plenty of options.
  • When boarding a boat, a bus or a taxi, kids go first
  • Lather up the sunscreen often! Here are some sunscreens that will protect both your kids and the environment.

Coral Coast Day Trip

Duration: 5-7 Hours

Some of Fiji’s best family attractions can found on the southern coast of Viti Levu, otherwise known as the Coral Coast. Either rent a car from one of the Denarau resorts or jump on one of the many tours taking families to the highlights of the Coral Coast. The usual tour itinerary of the Coral Coast includes a stop at the Kula Wild Adventure Park (available to book on Viator and Tripadvisor). Wildlife and adventure come together at Kula with lots of native wildlife on display as part of captive breeding programs. Plus, the young ones and the young at heart will love the waterslides and the “Crazy Canopy Flier” zipline. Adults can also stop by the local village markets for a true cultural experience.

Day tours to the Coral Coast are available with Fiji Eco Tours (more info on Viator and Tripadvisor) and Excite Tours & Travel (on Viator and Tripadvisor).

The Savala Island Day Cruise with Oolala Cruises is super family-friendly, with an array of activities available for the four hours that you get to spend on the private island. Show your children the spectacle of nature by snorkelling with tropical fish or teach them kayaking. With the hotel transfer, boat transport and food sorted out for you, all you need to do is spend some well-deserved quality time with the kids.

Mamanuca Islands Day Cruise

Duration: 8 hours

Another excuse to get out on the water! The Mamanuca Islands are the closest island group to Denarau so a cruise to the Mamanuca Islands usually means you and your family have more time to explore multiple islands all in one day. Trips with Cruisin Fiji can take you to Mana Island and Monu Island for some snorkelling and swimming. Mum and dad will love checking out the uninhabited island of Monuriki where Cast Away was filmed.
