Family Activities on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa

The Pacific Harbour of Fiji couldn’t be more ideal for families wanting to spend some quality time together. There are many activities in Fiji’s “Adventure Capital” that will excite both parents and kids, without ever feeling too unsafe. Ziplining, boat trips, snorkelling, white water rafting and river tubing are all ways to experience the Pacific Coast with your kids. Additionally, cultural activities are always an amazing learning experience for the whole family. And when mum and dad need some time alone, there’s always the option to take advantage of the kids’ clubs or nanny services provided in some of the Pacific Harbour’s top resorts. So see what exciting things you could get up to in this list of things to do on the Pacific Harbour with kids!

By the way, don’t miss our Guide to the Pacific Harbour & Beqa for Families.

1. Do a Zipline Course

The Pacific Harbour is all about adventure, and one of the best options for kids is ziplining. It’s fun for all ages, with Zip Fiji having keen zippers aged six to 60 years old! With Zip Fiji, you’ll soar through the jungle canopy of the Wainadoi River Valley. The ziplines cover 2km / 1.2 miles through a private eco-reserve. Snorkelling is the most accessible way for families to see the amazing array of fish, coral and sometimes even sea turtles at the Beqa Lagoon. Sea Fiji Reefs operates 2-hour tours with all the snorkelling gear included. They also include refreshments, a guide and boat transport out to the reefs. It’s a safe and fun activity for the whole family.

3. Go River Tubing

Words can’t describe how ridiculously fun river tubing in Fiji is, so we’ll let you know the details. Trips with River Tubing Fiji take you up the Navua River to encounter spectacular waterfalls, epic scenery and visit Fijian villages. Somewhere in between, you’ll have the opportunity to jump into an inflatable rubber tube and raft on the gentle rapids down the river. The whole tour is guided and fun way to spend the day. Lunch is also included.

4. Discover the Navua River and Fijian Village by River Boat

A fun adventure for all the family is an excursion up the Navua River. Operators like Discover Fiji Tours can pick up families straight from their accommodation and take them on a stunning journey into the heartland of Viti Levu (Fiji’s main island). Tours include a longboat ride up the Navua River, stopping by a Fijian village for a cultural experience, and swimming at a secluded waterfall spot. A traditional “lovo” lunch is also included.

6. Check Out the Arts Village

Your one-stop-shop for the Fijian culture is at the Arts Village. Although less authentic than a village visit and other cultural experiences in Fiji, the Arts Village presents the Fijian culture in a theme park-style venue. While parents might find it a little cheesy, the kids are sure to find the Arts Village a whole lot of fun!

7. Send the Kids to a Kids’ Club

Resorts like the Nanuku Auberge Resort offer amazing kids’ clubs where your children are sure to be stimulated throughout the day. It’s a great way for children to meet others their own age while playing beach games or learning to play Fijian warrior drums, for example. Meanwhile, mum and dad can enjoy some much deserved R&R time. Alternatively, resorts like the Beqa Lagoon Resort and ULTIQA Fiji Palms Resort offer babysitting services.

Learn more about the Fijian way of life on a village visit, either with your resort (good resorts to do this with are The Uprising Beach Resort or the Beqa Lagoon Resort) or on one of the Navua River tours mentioned on this list.
