Pacific Harbour: The Adventure Capital of Fiji!

1. Blast Up the Navua River by Longboat
As you’ll discover from the first half of this list, the Navua River is where many adventures occur on the Pacific Harbour. Sure, normal scuba diving from the Pacific Harbour is sensational and we’ll get more onto that later. However, we can’t go without first mentioning the cageless shark dive! That’s right, the nearby Shark Reef Marine Reserve is a protected area for around seven different species of sharks (including huge bull sharks) and around 300 species of fish. An adventure or just plain ridiculous fun? Either way, everyone should consider trying river tubing down the Navua River. If you know anything about the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island it’s that in-between is one of Fiji’s best scuba diving spots, the Beqa Lagoon. Surrounded by one of the world’s largest barrier reefs with over 306 km (190 mi) of coral, the Beqa Lagoon is a must-hit scuba diving spot for experienced and non-experienced divers alike. About 19 km (12 mi) off the coast of the Pacific Harbour is one of Fiji’s most famous surf breaks, Frigates Pass. The long and heavy left-hand barrel that is known to break for over 150 m (500 ft) is a thrill for experienced surfers. Trips to Frigates Pass and the other surf breaks on the Pacific Harbour can be organised with most Pacific Harbour resorts, but especially Matanivusi Beach Eco Resort and Waidroka Bay Resort which are specialised surf resorts. For a refreshing escape from the Fijian heat, head to the twin waterfalls of Wainadoi. This picturesque spot is ideal for swimming, jumping, and relaxing amidst nature’s beauty. There’s a small entry fee, which goes towards supporting the local community’s infrastructure. At the car park, you’ll usually find a friendly local ready to collect the cash – don’t forget to bring some! The village where the waterfall is located is famous for its cassava, so you might want to sample some local cuisine while you’re there. Fun fact: This stunning location was featured in the movie Anaconda (though we can assure you, there are no giant snakes here)! The village is also known as the “village of the prawns”. Location: Wainadoi Village Road, Wainadoi, Viti Levu, Coral Coast. Approximately 27 km (17 mi) east of Pacific Harbour. Turn right approximately 2.4 km (1.5 mi) down the Wainadoi Village Road. Look for parked vehicles near the waterfall.
