How to Get to Denarau Island

Getting into relaxation mode doesn’t take long after landing at Nadi International Airport. Denarau Island is located 25 minutes south of the airport and is attached to the mainland by road. All you need to do is pick your airport transfer method.

Denarau by Taxi

Taxis are a popular way to get from the airport to Denarau. The drive takes 20-30 minutes costing FJ$30-$50 one way. Before getting into a taxi, let the driver know that you want to go to your destination straight away. As taxis waiting at the airport usually only have enough room for four passengers, it’s unlikely that you’ll have to share the taxi with a family.

When taking taxis from Denarau, note that taxis need to be booked in advance. Denarau Hire Cars are the only taxi company allowed to do pickups on Denarau. Get tips on taking a taxi in our 10 Things You Need to Know About Taxis in Fiji.

Denarau by Airport Transfer

Private airport transfer services are the most convenient and “adult-only” way to get between Nadi Airport and Denarau Island. These services are booked in advance, where your driver will be waiting for you at the airport on your arrival. Because they are private and booked for only your party, you can breathe easy knowing that you won’t be in close quarters with kids on holiday. Check out private transfer recommendation in our Denarau Transport Guide. Expect to pay between FJ$50-$130 one way.

Find out more about Go Dirty Tours on Viator and Tripadvisor.

Private Island Scenic Flight Excursions

For a real “treat yourself” adventure with only the ones you choose to share the experience with, book yourself a flight on the Turtle Airways seaplane to a secluded beach in the Yasawa Islands. Nightlife in Denarau

Partying or enjoying a relaxing cocktail is another way to enjoy Fiji undisturbed. Denarau’s adult-only facilities like the KORO at Hilton and the Waitui Beach Club are the ideal places to get a luxury party island vibe and meet some like-minded people. Otherwise, head to the bars and restaurants at Port Denarau to find the heart of Denarau’s nightlife.

Bars at Port Denarau

Port Denarau is not where you’ll find your wild party nights (check The Ultimate Guide to Nightlife in Nadi for more of that vibe). More, Denarau has a relaxed and social holiday atmosphere with people from all over the world unwinding and drinking with views of the Denarau Marina.

Cardo’s is a popular drinking joint with live bands, steakhouse food and an extensive cocktail menu. The bar is open “till late”. Alternatively, there’s a lively atmosphere with the epic tunes blasting from the Hard Rock Cafe, as well as live music starting from 8pm on Thursdays and Sundays. The Rhum-Ba is a sophisticated establishment popular with spirit connoisseurs from all over the globe. Serving many rums made in Fiji, it’s a must-go!

Bars in Denarau’s Resorts

For more drinks and fun in Denarau, check out some of the resort’s most happening bars. The Mamacita Restaurant & Bar at the Wyndham Resort is your go-to for tequila, cocktails and more. Happy hour is 3-6pm daily offering 25% off all alcoholic drinks. You will also not want to miss fire dancing Fridays and Fijian Tuesdays with a lovo buffet and cultural dancers. The Chime Bar (moving to a new location on the waterfront) at the Sheraton Resort is also a popular jaunt for late-night drinking with live bands and a dancefloor.

Island Bar Excursions

Just off the coast of Denarau set above a stunning coral reef is the Cloud 9 floating bar. Relax on the deck chairs and sun loungers with a drink or a woodfired pizza, or jump in the water for a snorkel. Find out more on Viator and Tripadvisor. Alternatively, enjoy eight hours on a private island at the Malamala Beach Club with its own bar with imported wines, beers and handcrafted tropical cocktails. Again, more information on the Malamala Beach Club is available on Viator and Tripadvisor.
