Adult-Only Holidays on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island

Romance, adventure and relaxation can all be experienced on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island without disturbance. That’s what makes the Pacific Harbour of Fiji an ideal adult-only destination. The Pacific Harbour is much more about adult-friendly getaways. But to keep things as adult-only as possible, check out the accommodation, activities and dining experiences recommended in this adults-only vacation guide to the Pacific Harbour and Beqa.

How to Get to the Pacific Harbour

The Pacific Harbour is on the southeast coast of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island. Located along the Queens Road, about 2h30mins drive from Nadi and 1 hour from Suva, the Pacific Harbour is easily accessible by road. Beqa Island and Royal Davui Island are just off the shore of the Pacific Harbour, taking around 45 minutes to access by boat. Here are some of your best adult-only transport options.

Pacific Harbour by Private Transfer

Private transfers offer a comfortable and private way to get to the Pacific Harbour from Nadi International Airport. Your driver will be waiting at the airport for you with a sign and a friendly smile ready to take you to the doorstep of your chosen Pacific Harbour resort, stopping by shops and services along the way if need be. Check out our Pacific Harbour Transport Guide for recommendations.

Car Rentals

For those wanting to do some independent exploring, then renting a car is a great way to go. What’s more, you will only be sharing your rental vehicle with those you choose. There are plenty of car rental options around Nadi International Airport, which we list in The Best Car Rentals in Fiji.

Resort Road/Boat Transfers to Beqa Island

If you are staying on one of the Beqa Island resorts, then you have a couple of options to get to the island from the Pacific Harbour. The easiest way to get to Beqa Island is through a resort road and boat transfer, which is organised with your resort, costing around FJ$200-$300 per person one way.

Flights to Royal Davui Island

If you are wanting to get to the Pacific Harbour’s only adults-only resort with ease, then consider one of the flight options. Either organise with the Royal Davui Island Resort to take a helicopter flight (around FJ$1,400 one way) or a seaplane flight (around FJ$550 one way) from Nadi International Airport.

Adult-Only Water Activities on the Pacific Harbour

The Navua River takes much of the limelight when it comes to water activities on the Pacific Harbour. However, the white water rafting, jet boat tours and boat trips up the river also cater to the family holidaymakers, so if you’re looking for more adult-only water activities on the Pacific Harbour, we suggest setting your sights on the ocean. Fringed by the coral reefs of the Beqa Lagoon, the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island is in proximity to some of the most exciting water activities in Fiji.

Scuba Diving

Let’s begin with the obvious! If you know anything about the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island it’s that they are close to one of Fiji’s best scuba diving spots, the Beqa Lagoon. Surrounded by one of the world’s largest barrier reefs, over 306km (190 miles) of coral, this area is best described as a natural aquarium! Of course, scuba diving is on the agenda of most resorts on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island, including the adult-only Royal Davui Island Resort and our other recommended accommodation for adult-only holidays (see the list beside this article).

Shark Diving

Vamp up the scuba diving experience with cageless shark diving! That’s right, the nearby Shark Reef Marine Reserve is a protected area for around seven different species of sharks (including huge bull sharks). While the activity isn’t exclusively adult-only, first, children need to be over 10 years old to scuba dive, and second, there aren’t too many parents putting their kids in the water with sharks. Book your trip with Aqua-Trek Beqa, on Viator, Tripadvisor or through your chosen resort.

Surf Frigates Pass

About 19km (12 miles) off the coast is one of Fiji’s most famous surf breaks, Frigates Pass. The long and heavy left-hand barrel that is known to break for over 500ft is a thrill for experienced surfers. And be rest assured, the reef break is no place for a kid, making it a sure adult-only experience. Trips to Frigates Pass and the other surf breaks on the Pacific Harbour can be organised with resorts like the Waidroka Resort, Nanuku Auberge Resort and the resorts recommended beside this article.

Hand-Line, Spearfishing and Game Fishing

Far from your noisy tour group experience, fishing in Fiji is almost always a relaxing experience you can rely on for an adult-only trip. When it comes to fishing on the Pacific Harbour or Beqa Island, you can experience it in many different ways. Try native techniques of hand-line fishing in your own quiet corner of Beqa Island at the Kulu Bay Resort or experience a real adventure with open-ocean spearfishing at the Nanuku Auberge Resort. Of course, game fishing for whoppers like mahimahi, wahoo and marlin is always an option at resorts like The Pearl Resort, Waidroka and more! Learn more about fishing in The Complete Guide to Fishing in Fiji.

Kayaking

With so many resorts offering freedom hire of kayaks (for free might we just add), there’s no excuse not to get out on the water and explore the coast. Kayaking on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island is a tranquil experience shared with just you and your partner or travel mates. Resorts like Lalati Resort & Spa on Beqa Island offer private/small group kayaking tours to “Bat Island” should you want a guided experience.

Private Boat Cruise

There are plenty of cruise options that are exclusive to your group, whether it’s just the two of you or up to four people. Resorts that specialise in romance like the Lalati Resort & Spa offer a lagoon cruise including canapes and rum punch as part of their “Romance Package”, while the boutique Kulu Bay Resort does an “Around Beqa Island Boat Tour”. Of course, those staying at the five-star Nanuku Auberge Resort have access to private cruises and private island tours.

Adult-Only Land Activities on the Pacific Harbour

For those days that you want to keep your feet on dry land, there are a few amazing experiences to be had in adult-only environments. Here are just some ideas.

Spa Treatments

No matter where you stay on the Pacific Harbour, you know that the day spa of your resort is going to be your reliable adult-only retreat. The Pearl Resort has its own spa with eight private treatment rooms, two couples rooms and a large “chill” room. The Davui Fiji Spa can’t be missed on the adult-only Royal Davui Resort with its sophisticatedly designed treatment rooms overlooking the ocean. See more of our spa recommendations in our 5 Best Day Spas on the Pacific Harbour & Beqa Island.

Fitness and Wellness

The adult-only zone of many resorts is fitness centres. Rejuvenate with like-minded people with one of the yoga sessions at the Waidroka Resort, which offers a wealth of wellness activities involving meditation, nutrition and more. Or join the Nanuku Auberge‘s wellness coach, who represented Fiji in the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, for a beach and jungle boot camp. Finally, The Pearl Resort‘s gym is only exclusively for guests over 16 years old.

Play Golf

Golf etiquette is taken pretty seriously at The Pearl Golf & Country Club so you need not worry about anyone disturbing your game. Just enjoy the long and lush green fairways of the 18-hole par-72 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The golf course is one of the most famous in Fiji and is ideally located in the centre of the Pacific Harbour. Alternatively, The Nanuku Auberge Resort offers helicopter tours to the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

Adult-Only Dining on the Pacific Harbour

Yes, your adult-only holiday on the Pacific Harbour even extends to your food and beverages. Eating in Fiji isn’t just about sustenance, it’s an integral part of the local culture. Sampling the local cuisine of fresh seafood is a must and can be done in a few adult-only environments from fine dining restaurants to private beach picnics.

Fine Dining and Adult-Only Restaurants

Indulge in fine food impeccably presented at one of the Pacific Harbour’s fine dining venues. Seduce at The Pearl Resort offers Fijian-influenced cuisine on the waterfront in a contemporary and stylish environment with an illuminated bar and chandeliers. Alternatively, the elegant and romantic Kanavata Restaurant & Lounge specialises in Pacific Rim cuisine with fresh seafood caught in the Beqa Lagoon. Find the luxury restaurant at non-other than the Nanuku Auberge Resort. You’ll also enjoy adult-only dining at the Banyan Bar & Restaurant of the Royal Davuni Resort with an ancient banyan tree ascending through the restaurant.

Private Dining

Keep things to just the two of you with a romantic private dining experience. The Royal Davui, Nanuku and Lalati Resorts all offer private dining experiences, whether it’s on a private table overlooking the ocean or on your own private pier. Nanuku, Kulu Bay and Lalati resorts also offer private beach picnics to secluded sand bars and beaches complete with a gourmet picnic.
