How to Get to the Pacific Harbour

The Pacific Harbour is on the southeast coast of Viti Levu, Fiji’s main island. Located along the Queens Road, about 2 hrs 30 mins drive from Nadi and 1 hour from Suva, the Pacific Harbour is easily accessible by road. Beqa Island and Royal Davui Island are just off the shore of the Pacific Harbour, taking around 45 minutes to access by boat. Here are some of your best adult-only transport options.

Pacific Harbour by Private Transfer

Private transfers offer a comfortable and private way to get to the Pacific Harbour from Nadi International Airport. Your driver will be waiting at the airport for you with a sign and a friendly smile ready to take you to the doorstep of your chosen Pacific Harbour resort, stopping by shops and services along the way if need be. Check out our Pacific Harbour Transport Guide and 10 Best Airport Transfers in Fiji for recommendations.

Car Rentals

For those wanting to do some independent exploring, then renting a car is a great way to go. What’s more, you will only be sharing your rental vehicle with those you choose. There are plenty of car rental options around Nadi International Airport, which we list in The Best Car Rentals in Fiji.

Resort Road/Boat Transfers to Beqa Island

If you are staying on one of the Beqa Island resorts, then you have a couple of options to get to the island from the Pacific Harbour. The easiest way to get to Beqa Island is through a resort road and boat transfer, which is organised with your resort.

Flights to Royal Davui Island

If you want to get to the Pacific Harbour’s only adults-only resort with ease, then consider one of the flight options. Either organise with the Royal Davui Island Resort to take a helicopter flight or a seaplane flight from Nadi International Airport.

Adult-Only Water Activities on the Pacific Harbour

The Navua River takes much of the limelight when it comes to water activities on the Pacific Harbour. However, the white water rafting, jet boat tours and boat trips up the river also cater to the family holidaymakers, so if you’re looking for more adult-only water activities on the Pacific Harbour, we suggest setting your sights on the ocean. Fringed by the coral reefs of the Beqa Lagoon, the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island are in proximity to some of the most exciting water activities in Fiji.

Scuba Diving

If you know anything about the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island it’s that this part of Fiji is close to one of the islands’ best scuba diving spots, the Beqa Lagoon. Surrounded by one of the world’s largest barrier reefs with over 306 km (190 mi) of coral, the Beqa Lagoon is a must-hit scuba diving spot for experienced and non-experienced divers alike! Scuba diving is on the agenda of most resorts on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island, including the adults-only Royal Davui Island Resort, which is the best way to keep your experience child-free. Otherwise, with the scuba diving age being 10 years and over, you don’t need to worry too much about being surrounded by youngsters. See other scuba diving operations in the Pacific Harbour listed in The Guide to Scuba Diving in Fiji.

Shark Diving

Vamp up the scuba diving experience with cageless shark diving on the Pacific Harbour! That’s right, the nearby Shark Reef Marine Reserve is a protected area for around seven different species of sharks (including huge bull sharks) and around 300 species of fish. Again, the activity isn’t exclusively adult-only, but first, children need to be over 10 years old to scuba dive, and second, there aren’t too many parents putting their kids in the water with sharks… Book your trip with Aqua-Trek Beqa, Beqa Adventure Divers, Coral Coast Divers or through your Pacific Harbour resort. Alternatively, Beqa Lagoon Resort has its own private shark dive known as ‘The Cathedral’.

Surf Frigates Pass

About 19 km (12 mi) off the coast is one of Fiji’s most famous surf breaks, Frigates Pass. The long and heavy left-hand barrel that is known to break for over 500 ft is a thrill for keen surfers. And be rest assured, the reef break is no place for a kid, making it a sure adult-only experience with your fellow wave-riders. Trips to Frigates Pass and the other surf breaks on the Pacific Harbour can be organised with most resorts in the Beqa Island and Pacific Harbour area, but especially Matanivusi Beach Eco Resort and Waidroka Bay Resort which are specialised surf resorts.

Hand-Line, Spearfishing and Game Fishing

Far from your noisy tour group experience, fishing in Fiji is always a relaxing experience you can rely on as an adult-only trip. There are many different ways to experience fishing on the Pacific Harbour or Beqa Island. Try native techniques of handline fishing in your own quiet corner of Beqa Island or with open-ocean spearfishing at the Nanuku Resort. Of course, game fishing for whoppers like mahimahi, wahoo and yellowfin tuna is always an option at resorts like The Pearl Resort, Waidroka Resort and more! Find out more in The Complete Guide to Fishing in Fiji.

Kayaking

With so many resorts offering free kayak hire to use at your own leisure, there’s no excuse not to get out on the water and explore the coast. Kayaking on the Pacific Harbour and Beqa Island is a tranquil experience shared with just your loved one or friends. Resorts like the small (and most often adults-only) Lalati Resort & Spa on Beqa Island offer private/small group kayaking tours to “Bat Island” should you want a guided experience.

For something more adventurous, Rivers Fiji offers an exciting kayaking experience as part of their eco-adventures. Their kayaking tours typically take place on the Middle Navua River, which is famous for its deep, narrow gorges, lush rainforests, and numerous waterfalls. The kayaking tour allows participants to paddle through these stunning landscapes while navigating gentle rapids, making it an ideal mix of adventure and natural beauty. Along the way, participants may also have the chance to stop for a swim or explore hidden waterfalls.

For those days that you want to keep your feet on dry land, there are a few amazing experiences to be had in adult-only environments. Here are just some ideas.

Spa Treatments

No matter where you stay on the Pacific Harbour, you know that the day spa of your resort is going to be your reliable adults-only retreat. The Davui Fiji Spa can’t be missed in the adults-only Royal Davui Resort with its luxurious treatment rooms overlooking the ocean. Fitness and Wellness

The adults-only zone of many resorts is the fitness centre. Rejuvenate with like-minded people in one of the yoga sessions at Matanivusi Beach Eco Resort or the Waidroka Resort. The resort offers a wealth of wellness activities surrounding meditation, nutrition and more. Or join Nanuku‘s wellness coach for a beach and jungle boot camp. Finally, The Pearl Resort‘s gym is exclusive to guests over 16 years old.

Play Golf

Golf etiquette is taken pretty seriously (with a hint of Fiji time) at The Pearl Golf & Country Club so you need not worry about anyone disturbing your game. Just enjoy the long fairways lined with tropical plants on this 18-hole par-72 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. The golf course is one of the most famous in Fiji and is ideally located in the centre of the Pacific Harbour. Alternatively, The Nanuku Resort offers helicopter tours to the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course on the Coral Coast.

Adult-Only Dining on the Pacific Harbour

Yes, your adult-only holiday on the Pacific Harbour even extends to your food and beverages. Eating in Fiji isn’t just about sustenance, it’s an integral part of the local culture. Sampling the local cuisine of fresh seafood is a must and can be done in a few adult-only environments from fine dining restaurants to private beach picnics.

Fine Dining and Adult-Only Restaurants

Indulge in fine food impeccably presented at one of the Pacific Harbour’s fine dining venues. You’ll enjoy adult-only dining at the Banyan Bar & Restaurant of the Royal Davuni Resort with an ancient banyan tree ascending through the restaurant. Although not adults-only, the elegant and romantic Kanavata Restaurant & Lounge specialises in Pacific Rim cuisine with fresh seafood caught in the Beqa Lagoon. Find the luxury restaurant at none other than the Nanuku Resort.

Private Dining

Keep things to just the two of you with a romantic private dining experience. The Royal Davui Resort, Nanuku Resort, Beqa Lagoon and Lalati Resort all offer private dining experiences, whether on a private table overlooking the ocean or on your own private pier. Nanuku and Lalati Resort also offer private beach picnics at secluded sand bars and beaches complete with a gourmet picnic.

The Pacific Harbour’s Floating Bar

The Tropic Magic Floating Bar, affectionately known as Lailai Lounge, is a floating paradise nestled in Beqa Lagoon that caters primarily to adults seeking a unique and relaxing getaway. While not exclusively adults-only, this aquatic oasis offers a sophisticated atmosphere that’s perfect for travellers looking to unwind. The floating bar boasts a well-stocked bar, convenient toilet facilities, and an upstairs deck where you can lounge on comfy bean bags and savour a tropical buffet (because who doesn’t love a meal with a view?). Just a stone’s throw away from the Lawaki Resort and a nearby sandbar, Lailai Lounge is the ideal spot for combining leisurely sips with a dash of adventure. Open daily, it’s the perfect retreat for adult guests to indulge in activities like snorkelling and banana boat rides (hold onto your cocktails!). For those looking to amp up the relaxation, a selection of optional extras can be arranged, including a blissful half-hour massage, invigorating hikes, or a visit to the nearby sandbar. While families are welcome, the ambience is decidedly geared towards adults, making it a top choice for couples, friends, or solo travellers seeking a tranquil escape on the waters of Fiji.
