7-Day Adult-Only Itinerary for Fiji
Ah, paradise without children… For seven whole days! Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a week away with a group of mates, or, ahem… escaping your own kids, this “Fiji Adult-Only Itinerary: 7 Days Island-Hopping” might just be the perfect itinerary for you! This Fiji itinerary provides a balance of seeing two different island groups and Fiji’s mainland while giving you time in each location to relax. (Well, R&R is what an adult-only getaway is about, anyway). That’s not to say that we haven’t included a few exciting adventures that you just wouldn’t always be able to do with kids like scuba diving, surfing the big breaks, skydiving and more! We’ll go through some of Fiji’s amazing adult-only experiences, as well as offer recommendations for adult-only resorts to stay in along the way.

How to Get Around Fiji in 7 Days
The 7-day itinerary below involves both road and overwater travel. Here is a quick rundown of how to get around Fiji on an adult-only getaway.
Road Transport in Fiji
You wanted an island-hopping itinerary? Don’t worry, this 7-day itinerary has minimal road travel with only resorts transfers between Denarau and Nadi International Airport. While we recommend arranging a private transfer with your chosen Denarau resort, see more options in 5 Ways to Get to Denarau Island.
Overwater Transport in Fiji
This is what island-hopping is all about! This itinerary incorporates transport by fast catamaran, but a more appropriate option for keeping your trip exclusively “adults only” could be taking a water taxi between Denarau and the Mamanuca Islands. See 5 Ways to Get to the Mamanuca Islands for more information. For getting back from the Yasawa Islands, we recommend treating yourself to a helicopter or seaplane experience, ideal for an intimate adult-only holiday. See 5 Ways to Get to the Yasawa Islands for more details as well as alternatives.
Day 1 – Nadi International Airport to Denarau Island
Travel Time: 20 minutes
Welcome to Fiji! A great place to get over the flight and start getting into “Fiji time” is on Denarau Island. Just 20 minutes from the airport and connected to the mainland, it’s one of Fiji’s most luxurious hubs. The manmade island has a collection of five-star resorts (resort-hopping is a must), most of which have exclusive adult-only areas with an adult-only swimming pool, bar and a restaurant. On top of that, Denarau Island has no lack of spas, gyms and yoga classes to enjoy away from any sound of overenthusiastic children. Or, if you want to get your Fiji holiday off to a crazy start, how about skydiving over the islands?! Get more inspiration in The Adult-Only Guide to Denarau Island.
Adult-Only Experiences on Denarau Island
- Relax in a pool with a swim-up bar in one of the Denarau’s adult-only complexes
- Get into your workout undisturbed at one of the many Denarau fitness centres
- Get out on the water with a private fishing charter
- Skydive over the islands and coral reefs of Fiji (more info on Viator and Tripadvisor)
- Take a day trip to the private island beach club at Malamala (on Viator and Tripadvisor).
Find out more about these activities in our 10 Activities in Denarau for Adults.

Day 2 – Denarau Island to the Mamanuca Islands
Travel time: 35-45 minutes
It’s time to leave the little bubble of Denarau Island and make your way to see some of those famous islands scattered across the Fiji archipelago. Catch a catamaran ferry from Port Denarau to your chosen Mamanuca Islands’ adult-only resort (see below). Secluded on an island with only a handful of other guests, the adult-only resorts in the Mamanuca Islands are sure to provide the tranquillity you’re searching for. Since this is such a stunning yet relaxing area of Fiji, we’ve made sure to give you a few days to indulge here.
Day 3 – Mamanuca Islands
You have a couple of days to do as much (or as little) as you want on the Mamanuca Islands, whether it’s discovering the amazing coral gardens in a scuba diving trip or hitting one of the famous surf breaks of the area. The great thing about the adult-only resorts in the Mamanuca Islands is that most of their day trips return just in time for happy hour…
Adult-Only Experiences in the Mamanuca Islands
- Indulge in an island spa treatment at your resorts’ adult-only spa
- Cruise out to a secluded sandbar for amazing snorkelling
- Scuba dive at one of the 30 dive sites in the Mamanucas
- Hike to an island’s viewpoint
- Hit massive waves like “Cloudbreak” on a surfing excursion
For more information on each experience, check out our 10 Adult-Only Activities in the Mamanuca Islands.
Day 4 – Mamanuca Islands
This is your final day to indulge in that Fijian spa treatment, hit the waters on a sports fishing charter, or perhaps take a boat out to the Cloud 9 floating pizza bar. Although the bar isn’t “adult-only”, adults are its main clientele. Most resorts offer boat trips to the bar which sits above the Ro Ro Reef with amazing snorkelling and paddleboarding also available. Find out more about Cloud 9 in Viator and Tripadvisor.
Check out The Adult Only Guide to the Mamanuca Islands for more inspiration on what to do.
Day 5 – Mamanuca Islands to the Yasawa Islands
Travel time: 1h15min-3h45min
This morning, enjoy a scenic catamaran cruise on the Yasawa Flyer to your chosen adult-only resort in the remote Yasawa Islands – or you could get a Bula Pass (on Viator and Tripadvisor) and stay in a different adult-only resort each night if you feel inclined. It’s a different pace of life in the Yasawas, where the adult-only resorts are boutique enhancing the serenity of an adult-only holiday. The island group is also home to a range of stunning natural attractions, such as the Blue Lagoon, the Sawa-i-Lau Caves, volcanic islands and vibrant coral reefs.
Adult-Only Experiences in the Yasawa Islands
- Snorkel or scuba dive with manta rays or sharks
- Kayak or stand-up paddleboard on the azure waters
- Rejuvenate with a morning yoga session
- Treat your loved one to a private island picnic
- Perfect the art of doing nothing at all…
For more information and suggestions, check out the 10 Adult-Only Activities in the Yasawa Islands.
Day 6 – Yasawa Islands
You’ll be glad to spend an extra day on the soft sandy shores of the Yasawa Islands. The island group is not a place you’ll want to leave too hastily when there’s snorkelling with manta rays to do, private island picnics to indulge in, and the Fijian culture to immerse in. For instance, your resort will be able to organise a kava ceremony, a village visit or maybe even a traditional feast called a “lovo”.
See The Adult Only Guide to the Yasawa Islands for more inspiration on what to do.
Day 7 – Yasawa Islands to Nadi
Travel time: 35 minutes
It might be your last day in Fiji but make sure you leave in style. Enjoy an intimate transfer flight back to Nadi with Pacific Islands Air, Island Hoppers Fiji or Turtle Airways. These breathtaking helicopter or seaplane flights soar over the Yasawa and the Mamanuca Islands giving you a brand new perspective from above. Trust us, there’s nothing like seeing the coral reefs decorating the azure blue waters! Pacific Island Air and Island Hoppers Fiji will transport you straight to Nadi International Airport, while Turtle Airways will land in Denarau and offer road airport transfers, where you can make your connecting flight out of Fiji with ease.
