The dry season is when most couples choose to get married in Fiji. With lower chances of rain on your wedding day combined with comfortably warm temperatures, the weather aspect of the dry season is what many consider perfect for an island wedding. Making Your Marriage in Fiji Legal

To legally marry in Fiji, couples must meet specific conditions and obtain a Marriage License.

Key requirements include being 18 or older, single or legally free to marry, and physically present for the ceremony. Essential documents needed are birth certificates, passports with valid visas, and a single status certificate. Non-residents must obtain this certificate from their home country’s registry.

The process involves sending scanned documents to Fiji’s BMD registry and then visiting in person upon arrival to complete the license application. Your Marriage License is valid for 28 days.

During the ceremony, both partners, two witnesses (21+), and the celebrant must sign the Marriage Certificate. One copy is kept by the couple, while another is registered and receives an Apostille Seal for international recognition.
